Historic Charity Rally
The event
The South Lincs Classic Rally is a charity navigational event with special tests, provisionally scheduled for May 2011.
An event for all
This event will be the very first South Lincs Classic Rally, promoted by East Elloe Motor Club Ltd and its recently-formed classic car section, Spalding & East Elloe Classic Car Club.
The primary aim of this event is for everyone to have an enjoyable day out driving their classic cars. At the same time we also aim to raise some cash for our nominated charities, including LIVES. However, in addition, there is also the added spice of some competition!
The event, which will start in Spalding, will take place on sealed surface roads. The public road element of the event will take the form of simple navigation by roadbook in jogularity and regularity sections, totalling around 120 miles. These require crews to maintain stipulated average speeds (of 30 mph or less) to enable them to arrive at timing points (controls) at the correct time. The navigation is suitable for novices and beginners as full instructions on how to complete the route will be given.
As well as the road sections, there will be special tests on closed roads, which will also be timed to the second. Tests are all in forward gear and are suitable for all cars.
It will be suitable for all types of classic (and modern) vehicles. Even if you dont want to be ultra-competitive for fear of doing something undesirable to your pride and joy, this event will be ideal for you. The road sections are no different to doing a run (apart from the need to ensure you keep to time) and, on the special tests, you can go at whatever speed suits you.
We do hope you will enter this event; remember in addition to having a great day out you will also be helping to raise some valuable cash for local charities.
